Volunteer of the Year Award Criteria

United Way strives to advance the common good. But we don’t do it alone. We need the heads, hands, and hearts of committed people to help us tackle the problems facing our communities. Each of us has special talents, things we do to help. We want to recognize an individual who gives of their time and talents to make a positive impact in the community. On Thursday, March 28, during our 2013 Community Recognition Event, we will announce this year’s MetroWest/495 Corridor Volunteer of the Year Award recipient.

 

United Way was able to connect over 3,360 volunteers in the MetroWest /495 Corridor region for a total of more than 19,460 hours last year.  That's equivalent to a savings of $528,144 for local non-profits! We know volunteerism is essential to small and large organizations alike.  The United Way of Tri-County is committed to recognizing and celebrating outstanding volunteer service.

 

The MetroWest/495 Corridor Volunteer of the Year Award will honor someone who is dedicated to volunteering within our 34 local United Way of Tri-County communities (visit uwotc.org for a list of our communities). This can be someone who volunteers time with a local school, government entity, or a non-profit.  We welcome nominations for all volunteers, not exclusively those who volunteer specifically through United Way.

 

Nominations are being accepted through end of business on Friday, February 22nd. Nominees must meet the following criteria:

 

  • Exemplify the spirit of community service.
  • Make an outstanding contribution to the community through volunteer service.
  • Demonstrate exceptional commitment, service, creativity, cooperation, or leadership.
  • Serve as a role model for others in their community.
  • Inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
  • Must not be paid for their activities.

To nominate an individual, please complete the following form. A separate form should be filled out for each volunteer that is being nominated. Please be sure to provide all information requested. All forms must be submitted on or before Friday, February 22.
