Marlborough – State Sen. Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) has recently secured $100,000 in funding for fiscal year (FY) 2021 for the Marlborough Community Cupboard, according to a press release from his office.
The Marlborough Community Cupboard, a program of the United Way of Tri-County, provides groceries and produce to Marlborough residents, ensuring access to healthy items that may otherwise be too expensive in retail grocery stores. These funds will support building improvements due to increased client need and enhanced social distancing necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I was very happy to secure $100,000 for the Marlborough Community Cupboard in the fiscal year 2021 budget,” Eldridge said. “Having my district office just down the hall from this food pantry for Marlborough residents, I see how hard Director Barbara LaGrenade and all the wonderful volunteers work to address food insecurity in Marlborough. This earmark will help the Marlborough Community Cupboard upgrade its freezers and refrigerators, flooring, food racks, and general support to ensure that no Marlborough family goes hungry, especially during the pandemic.”
