MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, UWTC seeking award nominations

FRAMINGHAM — Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Athena Leadership Award. Through a partnership between the United Way of Tri-County and the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, it will be awarded to a prominent leader in the MetroWest region for contributing to the advancement of the status of women in the community and the workplace, achievement of professional excellence, meaningful contribution to community service, and active assistance to women in their attainment of professional and leadership skills.

"It gives us great pleasure to be partnering with the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce to honor these exceptional leaders and community advocates who have worked hard to advance the status of women in the MetroWest community," said Paul Mina, president and CEO of United Way of Tri-County.

"Recently we have witnessed an important and unprecedented international movement toward promoting, empowering, protecting and compensating women," said Paul Joseph, MetroWest Chamber of Commerce president and CEO. "Presenting the annual Athena Award to an accomplished MetroWest leader through this partnership with the United Way of Tri-County symbolizes the importance of coming together as individuals and organizations in support of equity and opportunities for women in our community."

Nominations must be received by March 8. The nomination form, which includes award criteria, is available at uwotc.org/athena and metrowest.org. To enhance the candidate's potential, it is important that nominators complete the form in its entirety. Nominees will be reviewed by a seven-member committee comprised of three past local Athena Award winners, and two representatives from each sponsoring organization.

The Athena Award recipient will be announced on May 5 at a luncheon hosted at the Verve-Crowne Plaza in Natick. For attendees of the MetroWest Women's Leadership Conference, beginning earlier that same day, the Athena Award luncheon and keynote is included with full conference admission.

Luncheon tickets are available online at uwotc.org/ATHENA and full conference attendees can register at metrowest.org/events.
