One of our favorite events of the year, the MetroWest Corporate 5K, is back on Thursday, May 16th, presented by Main Street Bank! It's a night of competition and community featuring a 5K race, team prizes, finisher medals, food, fun and beer, and we're thrilled to bring it back to Marlborough thanks to the support of local businesses. Q: Hello, Boston Scientific! Tell us a bit about your company and its presence in Marlborough.
A: Boston Scientific is focused on improving the health of patients around the world through our medical technologies. Our devices and therapies help physicians address unmet needs and treat more than 37 million patients each year. We have over 48,000 employees worldwide, including about 1,600 based out of our headquarters here in Marlborough.

Q: Boston Scientific WON last year’s MetroWest Corporate 5K — will it be a repeat this year?
A: We hope so! Winning spirit is one of our core values at Boston Scientific, so our team has their sights set on that goal. We have returning runners from last year’s team as well as new runners joining the competition. The team is excited for the opportunity to combine their passions for running and supporting our local community. I’ve seen our employees accomplish great things and I think bringing home the corporate cup for a second year in a row will be no different.

Q: Can you tell us why Boston Scientific stepped up as one of our two Medal Sponsors?
A: This is our second year as a Medal Sponsor for the event and we are excited to continue our support. It’s important for us to take part and give back to our Marlborough community. Events like this provide a way for our employees to engage in a bit of friendly competition while supporting health and fitness. As the defending champions of the Corporate Cup, deciding to continue our support as the Medal Sponsor was a no brainer.

Q: What do you like about being involved in this event?
A: This event is a great way to continue to support the mission of the United Way of Tri-County while also giving our employees a fun opportunity to get out into the community. The race gives local businesses a chance to come together, get active, explore downtown Marlborough, and recognize the ways UWOTC has impacted local families. It is a great community-wide celebration that we are excited to be a part of.

Q: How else is Boston Scientific involved in supporting the United Way of Tri-County and our Marlborough Community Cupboard?
A: We’ve supported the work of United Way of Tri-County and the Marlborough Community Cupboard in several ways over the years. The Marlborough Community Cupboard is a favorite spot for our employees to volunteer with their teams throughout the year. We’ve also provided funding for holiday programming, donations of food, hygiene products and other essentials, and sent volunteers to lend a hand at various other UWOTC events.
