We both work on the Community Engagement Team for Boston Scientific supporting employee volunteerism and community outreach activities.

How long have you been partnering with the United Way?
We have been working with the United Way for over 15 years.
Why does your company choose to support our communities through the United Way?
The United Way team understands the community’s greatest needs and listens to the challenges community members are facing before identifying plans and partners to help find solutions. In addition to our caring value, we also believe in the importance of listening to truly understand problems before creating solutions—and that approach is well-aligned with the United Way.
Are employees allowed to use any work time for volunteering, if so how, how does that program work?
Yes. We have guidance in place that allows employees to volunteer during work hours with their manager’s permission. Many employees participate in individual days of volunteer service, our annual Volunteer Day activities and/or team-building volunteer events.
What would you say about us to other companies looking to get involved in the community?
The United Way of Tri-County has a great understanding of the current needs of the local community and has many strong local relationships. They are experts making connections and finding creative solutions that benefit the community. We leverage the knowledge of their team to collaborate on programs that matter.
What things does your company do to support our communities through the United Way?
Boston Scientific supports United Way through volunteering, program sponsorship, grant funding and food donations.
