The number of families visiting our food pantries
has increased 60% over the past 2 years.
Due to this increased need we are experiencing
a shortage of food pantry staples.
The impact of hunger on local families is alarming and the effects on adults and children living in food insecure homes are dire.
At the United Way of Tri-County’s food pantries and hot meal programs, we have increased the amount of fresh vegetables, meats, dairy, and whole grains we are providing to families each month.
Hunger is on the rise in Massachusetts as food costs continue to soar. The Greater Boston Food Bank reports that one-third of Massachusetts adults are struggling to get enough to eat.
Here are a few ways that you can help our vulnerable neighbors as we confront this extraordinary need.

Volunteers are truly the backbone of our organization and we value your time.
Visit our volunteer page and pick the day or evening you would like to help out by signing up for a single day or evening or making a longer term commitment at our online volunteer portal.
Organize a food drive at work or among friends and family.
Non perishable food donations can be dropped off at our food pantry locations between 9 am and 3 pm Monday thru Friday.
Food Pantry Staples that we are in need of:
- Pasta
- Cereal
- Jelly and jams
- Instant or canned potatoes
- Canned fruit
- Canned beans (kidney, pinto – not garbanzo)
- Canned vegetables
- Shelf stable milk
- Bottles of juice
- Baking mixes for muffins, cakes, or breads
- Toiletries
- Diapers newborn to size five
- Adult incontinence products
