A day of golfing on the beautiful green at Hopkinton Country Club on July 21 raised $50,000 for the United Way of Tri-County's (UWOTC) direct services.
Congratulations go out to the foursome from Rockwell Roofing for winning this year's 2025 United Way Golf Classic, presented by Avidia Bank, with an impressive score of 14 under par. But hats—or should we say, visors—off to all 140+ participants who teed off to support the communities we serve.
Players celebrated birdies and other good shots, and also enjoyed fun contests like blasting a ball out of Leaderboard New England's air cannon on Hole 1. (What a thrill!) The 18 rounds of play allowed for networking and teambuilding as companies including PIDC, TJX, BTL, Pete's Tire Barns, Robert Half, Clear Sky Cannabis, St. Mary's Credit Union, Chick Fil-A, GRLA and others competed in a scramble format.
Rounding out the top three was a team from Chick-Fil-A of Westborough/Marlborough that finished in second place and AAF Wealth Management in third; great job!
The tournament was a fundraiser for our direct services: the Pearl Street Cupboard & Café, Marlborough Community Cupboard, WHEAT Community Connections, Ready to Read early literacy program and the suicide prevention program Call2Talk.
“We’re so thankful to our incredible sponsors and every golfer who joined us, including our longtime presenting sponsor Avidia Bank. Your generosity and enthusiasm helped us raise critical funds that will go a long way in supporting local families who are struggling. Because of you, we can continue providing food, mental health service, and essential resources to those who need it most. We truly couldn’t do this work without your support,” said Sandra Baldi, UWOTC's Special Events Manager.
Several current and former UWOTC Board members were seen driving the ball off the tee, including retired member John Strickland from Bose, Renee Franzosa from Robert Half Management Resources, Ellen McGovern from Clinton Savings Bank and Larissa Thurston, who now leads Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union.
Chick-Fil-A fueled our golfers up to play with complimentary chicken biscuits and hash browns, and Hopkinton Country Club once again provided their championship course and a full buffet dinner, complete with ice cream sundaes for dessert.
Our sponsors generously covered the tournament costs, allowing proceeds from registrations and raffle prizes to go to our direct services.
Big thanks to presenting sponsor Avidia Bank and our other major sponsors: PIDC, GRLA, TJX, Clear Sky Cannabis, BLT, Robert Half, St. Mary's Credit Union, National Grid, Fitts Insurance, Pete's Tire Barn, Unibank, Canby Financial Advisors, Systems Analysis Services Inc., Auto Bright Car Care and Clinton Savings Bank. Additional support came from: Blue Square Pizza, Main Street Pediatrics, Orangetheory Fitness, Amanda Formica, George's Garage, The Bonazzoli Corp., UPS Northeast Latino BRG, Phipps Insurance Agency, Rockwell Roofing and Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union.
Our next big event is the Jack's Abby United Way 5K on Saturday, Sept. 20 in Framingham. The $35 registration fee includes a free T-shirt for the first 500 signed up, plus an ice-cold Jack's Abby lager after the race for those 21+. Registration is now open at: uwotc.org/5k.
