Rini Wins Jack Abby’s United Way of Tri-County 5K Road Race

FRAMINGHAM – Saturday was a beautiful fall day for a 5K, and almost 600 individuals registered to participate in the United Way of Tri-County’s 5K run/walk sponsored by Jack’s Abby Craft Brewers.

The 5K supports the United Way of Tri-County, based in Framingham

United Way of Tri-County is an independently-governed nonprofit organization connected to a network of more than 1,300 local United Ways worldwide. The Tri-County United Way serves more than 30 communities in Massachusetts.

“United Way advances the common good as MetroWest’s largest community-based investor in health, education, financial stability and basic human needs – the building blocks for a productive and happy life,” noted the organization.

Mark Rini, 28, of Framingham won the 5K race in 17.02 minutes.

Second place finisher David Plotkin, 33 of Beverly was a close second in 17.04 minutes, with William Vital of Hudson, third in 17.05 minutes.

Fourth and fifth place runners came in at a tie in 18.17 minute tie. They were Jeff Okerman of Needham and Jim Fisk, of Framingham.

Westborough’s Lacey Liebert, 39, was the top female finisher in 20.24 minutes.
In second place for women was Meghan Schreck, 28, in 20.47 minutes, with Christiana Kearns, 21, in 21.47 minutes in third place.

Framingham’s Abby McCae, 40, was fourth in 22:15, with Framingham’s Phyllis Lowry, 56, was fifth in 22.19 minutes. Lowry was #1 in her age group.
